Discovered By TREWAVAS 1935
Common Name "Royal Blue"
Fish Size min 4" - max 5" Inches
Min Tank Size 50 Gallons
General Information Located throughout the lake. Found in deeper water in the intermediate to rocky habitat. Diet in the wild consists of edible debris found in the water column. O. heterodon is an opportunistic feeder.

The aquarium should have some rockwork but still provide open swimming space both along the bottom and mid-tank region. Forming caves in the aquarium will greatly benefit this species and bring out its natural behavior. Feed a quality cichlid flake/pellet food, supplement occasionally with frozen brine, krill or mysis.
